土地适宜性评价是土地合理利用的重要内容，由于不确定性因素的影响，实践中将几种评价方法的评价结果进行比较和验证是必须的，也是可行的。本文主要阐述了土地适宜性评价的发展状况，包括传统的理论方法和结合各种数学统计方法与3S技术的现代的理论方法。本文还详细说明了土地适宜性评价的分类方法与评价的程序，最后本文以天津市东丽区为例，说明了对小区域运用等差法进行土地适宜性评价的可行性。
